Ah, finally, the post I promised you--coverage of the MODA 2014 Spring Fashion Show!
(oh and p.s. haha if you haven't already learned, I run on Iranian time, which means that in my last post when I mentioned that I would post these photos "tomorrow," it really means next week ahaha whoops!)

Model off duty with a beautiful Kenzo sweater that I'm in love with!
MODA, the University of Chicago's student organization dedicated to all things fashion on campus, puts on one of the biggest events of the year--its annual spring fashion show--which showcases designs from both student designers and MODA's sponsors. This year, the show was held in the beautiful Union Station and drew quite the crowd!

Because I don't want to overwhelm you with photos, I'm only featuring a select few from the show and handing the rest over to MODA, which you can check out here: http://on.fb.me/1i7XAuX!

THE PRE-SHOW

Only a few hours before showtime and you could already feel the heavy tension in the air--models were frantically running between makeup session, photo shoots, and trying to break in their new heels, and designers were stressing over last-minute alterations to their pieces that were about to be shown to hundreds~

THE SHOW

A few of my favorite sets from the show...

This collection was one of my favorites! Not only did it include both men's and women's pieces inspired from the same Asian-inspired motif (and you know I like dat male-female overlap in fashion!) BUT UH it included Duaa, who is now officially the first Hijabi model to walk the runway at MODA! (Not to mention the fact that she is one of my good friends!) I also just love how the lines and shapes effortlessly flow throughout each piece!

In this set, the combination of the leather panels and orange ombre was really great! This mix of textures and shapes complement each other really nicely, and I loved the silhouette on the first look in particular!

Total white has always been a favorite, and these pieces definitely had a strong ethereal-greek feel. I loved the asymmetrical winged sleeve on the second piece!

I think this menswear set by CLEONS Clothing did a great job of drawing on the punk trend from AW13! I loved the shoulder details in each of the pieces and think that CLEONS did a beautiful job on the intricate and delicate details of his pieces while simultaneously creating a very strong and fierce feel to all of his looks! Definitely one of my favorite sets from the show!

Also, while getting ready to head out, I ran into two really amazing bloggers (with stellar style!) from CALL HER OLIVE! They are Chicago-based and blog about beauty, music, and fashion! And yes, you can expect a collaboration together in the near future! But in the meantime, be sure to check out their site and leave them some love, here! xx
